All of my settings are defined by the nature and origin of their magic.
## Scattered Disk
Magic is a Scattered Disk, breaking apart with each spell.
Books set later in the Scattered Disk timeline have weaker and weaker magic while industrialization moves forward without a care. Arcanists often have to deal with the declining importance of their profession--and their responsibility in destroying the Scattered Disk.
## Great Ring
Magic is the privilege of the Ringborn, who gift to others the ability to access the Ring through intimacy. Conversely, Ringborn can only use as much magic as they gift.
Books set in the Great Ring setting typically have characters who must question their obligations as a Ringborn to sleep with people they're uninterested in, and overcoming societal prejudice to turn the people they love into consorts.
